Security: Protect Yourself from Cyber Scams
We dedicate significant efforts to protect you, but only you can act against certain risks:
- Never access your online banking through links or ads in search engines. Type ABANCA's web address directly into your browser.
- When you enter our website, make sure the security indicator appears, represented by a padlock . You will find it in your navigation bar.
- Download the app from official iOS and Android channels and sites.
- When validating an online purchase, carefully read the SMS with the one-time codes we send you and check the seller's details and the amount.
Never share your passwords
Your access passwords are yours alone. Never reveal them! If you have any doubts or think someone might know them, change them immediately. Do not share your personal information either. And remember: if someone asks for your passwords via SMS, email, or phone call, it's not us!

Log out when you finish your transactions
If you don't, someone using the same computer could access online banking with your passwords. Even so, your online banking session will automatically disconnect if it detects that you've been inactive for a few minutes.

How to Access Your Online Banking Securely
Your online banking includes an enhanced security system to identify you safely.
After several consecutive failed login attempts or a long period of inactivity, your online banking will be locked. To unlock it, use the “Can’t access?” link or visit your nearest branch to request a new PIN.
We emphasize: cybercriminals impersonate courier services, online stores, public administrations, and banks too! So remember: we will never ask for your passwords. And if you have any doubts, call us.
If you believe you have been the victim of a scam:
If you have antivirus software installed, run a scan on your device to try to uninstall the malicious application.
If this does not work, you can restore your device to factory settings from ‘Settings’.
We recommend that you change the PIN for your bank accounts as well as your cards.
Additionally, you can report the incident to the National Police, the Civil Guard, or the National Cybersecurity Institute (INCIBE).
If something happens, how will we notify you?
We have one of the best teams: if we detect anything unusual, we will contact you to inform you of a possible issue or to verify the authenticity of one of your transactions.
Remember that we will never ask you for confidential information or passwords via email, SMS, or WhatsApp. So, if you are asked for this type of information, do not respond! Someone could be trying to deceive you.
If something like this ever happens to you, send us an email at tuseguridad@abanca.com to help prevent possible fraud against other customers.
Our security systems wouldn't be complete without your help
If you notice any unusual activity, we would appreciate it if you let us know if:
Something happens with your purchases, cards, or accounts
You find a website that looks like ABANCA's but isn't
When accessing your online banking, you are asked for more passwords than usual
You receive notifications on your mobile about logins or transactions you are not making
You receive an email with a direct link to your online banking

Your secure online purchases
- We authenticate your online purchases.
- We require the signature of certain transactions; for this, we may send you a notification to the mobile banking app or ask you for some information and a one-time password that we will send to your mobile phone. Make sure the transaction matches the one you are carrying out.
You can find all the information about security in online purchases here.

Are you hesitant to give your card number when shopping online?
Our security system is designed to ensure that neither your information nor your money is compromised when you shop online.

Don't want to take risks?
Generate a virtual card directly from your ABANCA app and set the spending limit you choose. It's easy, fast, and free.
You can also limit the risk of your purchases by using prepaid cards. You will only be able to use the balance you have loaded.
Virtual cards: a solution for expert (or inexperienced) shoppers

Do you think you left your card at home but you're not sure?
The ABANCA app gives you the option to turn your cards off and on. This way, you can easily control their use and deactivate them if you suspect you've been a victim of theft, fraud, or if you've lost your card.
